Kitkitdizzi recently opened its doors at the top of Broad Street in downtown Nevada City. The shop is home to an eclectic mix of art, clothes, housewares and other treasures. Swimming
It’s warming up and time to go swimming! Lots of options in Nevada City, head to the river (click here and here for some photos from last summer), jump in Pioneer Park pool or if you’re a guest at the Outside Inn come for a dip in our pool. Flo, the SYRCL Salmon came for a visit earlier this year, she liked the pool, plus a few other fun spots around the inn, click here for those photos. Farmer’s Markets
Summer is here and it’s time to start enjoying some of our local farmer’s bounty. The Nevada City Farmers Market starts on Saturday, June 16th, 8:30-12:30 in downtown Nevada City. In addition to fruit and veggies you can also grab a bite to eat, listen to live music and do a little shopping. It’s definitely the place to be seen in Nevada City on Saturday mornings.
The Nevada County Growers Market is Saturdays 8am-1pm till after Thanksgiving at the North Star House in Grass Valley. The market includes music, prepared foods and kids craft projects on the first Saturday of every month. Sierra Vintners Wine Trail
Interested in learning more about Nevada County wines? The Sierra Vintners Wine Trail is a two day event, June 2nd and 3rd that really allows visitors to get to know the wine in the region. Fifteen different wineries throughout the area welcome new visitors to come and sample wines, food and come have a chat with the winemakers.
Jack Starr mixing up some possible options of Jack’s blend at Sierra Starr Vineyard in their barrel room. The newly constructed wine making facility has some great features, so while most of Sierra Starr tastings happen at their downtown Grass Valley tasting room, this event is a great opportunity to explore the new facility. Paddle boards at Scotts Flat Lake
Looking for a fun outdoor activity? Go try stand up paddle boarding out on Scotts Flat Lake. Mountain Recreation has just launched a new rental service at Scotts Flat Campground, stop by Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays 12-6 to try a Boga Board or a kayak. Prices for a paddle board start at $15/hour ($10 for the second hour) and $20/hour for a kayak ($10 for the second hour) and capped at $50 for the day.
