Bouldering in Nevada City
Along a the quiet country road called Factory Street are a collection of granite boulders with telltale chalk marks on them. The chalk is used by local climbers to grip the tiny ledges as they maneuver around the granite slabs. Here is Dieter King working out early this morning on his favorite local bouldering site literally two blocks away from the nearest cafe in downtown Nevada City. How did you start your day?

Celebration of Life Triathlon Raffle Giveaway
Are you training for the upcoming Barbara Schmidt Millar Celebration of Life Triathlon out at Scotts Flat Lake? The event takes place on September 16th at 9am on the Cascade Shores, with women of all abilities and ages swimming, biking and running. The money raised from the event goes to help fund mammograms at the Women’s Imaging Center at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital and a scholarship for a local high school student who’s planning on studying in the health care profession.

The Nevada City Film Festival is coming to town August 16th-19th. The event is showcasing over 100 films from 14 different countries. Join the kick off party Thursday night with the documentary “Neil Youngs Journeys” by Academy Award-winning director Jonathan Demme. We interviewed a few of the locals filmmakers on why they’re excited about this year’s show.
