Fire Safe Council
The Fire Safe Council is a non-profit, local volunteer organization dedicated to making Nevada County safer from catastrophic wildfire through fire prevention education, fire break clearing projects and creating Firewise Communities. If you’re looking for more information about how to make your property safer from wildfire; get your brush and tree debris chipped or to get more information about the bark beetle kill, check out their website to “help understand why there are so many dead trees,” explained Executive Director Joanne Drummond. And to help support the Fire Safe Council, the Outside Inn’s blog has 2 tickets to give away to their upcoming Wine & Culinary Adventure at the Miners Foundry on Friday, May 19th, donated by Ingrid & Warren Knox. You can travel to four tasting stations (Japan, Italy, France & Spain) with cuisine by Chefs Amanda Lutton and Al Markowich from California Catering, pared with wines and local craft beers from Nevada City Winery, BrewBiltOl Republic Brewery, Sierra Starr Winery and Three Forks Bakery & Brewery.  There will be live music and a silent auction. Post a comment on this blog post and I’ll announce the winner on Wednesday, May 17th.  *Edited to say the winner is Debra Christenson.

Looks fun! Also thanks for link on fire safe council .. been meaning to ask them about how we are having massive die off of cedars in our land .. someone said it was beetles too … but to NOT cut them b/c we will only release the beetles to other trees. It gets SO confusing at times how to steward these things!!
