Jade Summit Fine Tea & Antiques recently opened its doors at 236 Commercial Street in downtown Nevada City.  The tea shop is open Thursday-Sunday 12-6 to purchase some of the finest Chinese tea with varieties of puerh, white, green and black teas.  In addition to tea and antiques owner MJ Greenmountain will be hosting private Chinese gongfu tea services for small groups by appointment only.  He hopes to create a cultural center for the tea drinking community.  “We have some of the finest tea on the planet, I sought out the best tea that I like and can afford and it’s nice to be able to pass it onto others.”  The tea service will range in price from $20-$100 per person and offer an education, cultural experience and an opportunity to enjoy drinking a living antique.  For more information about Jade Summit check out their Facebook page or website.  Thanks to MJ I have a $20 gift certificate to offer up to one InnSide Nevada City blog reader, please post a comment on this post and I’ll draw the winner on Friday, June 27th.

While my husband was in China on a business trip he visited a tea shop and thouroughly enjoyed tasting teas and the tea ceremony. Jade Summit should be a great way to learn about other cultures.

Thanks Janet for the comment, I think it’s a great opportunity to learn more about the art of tea (w/o the many hours of traveling overseas).

I think the benefits of having tea and coffee ( in moderation) in ones diet are becoming more scientifically proven. I’m a coffee person myself but find myself gravitating to tea in the evenings

When you have an opportunity to go in definitely tell MJ you’re a coffee drinker, he’s got some teas that will definitely appeal to your palette.

Jade Summit is just perfect, combining the best of all worlds. Culture, history, tea, antiques and good company, in a beautiful, zen setting.

I think, with the rich Chinese history, very unknown to many, associated with the Gold Rush and building of the railroad, Jade Summit is also located in the most perfect area of the world, too.

My daughter and I both love going to tea shops. This would be a wonderful outing to spend some Mother/Daughter time. I need to take her here. Her birthday’s coming up….hmmm…
