The Sierra Vintners wine trail returns Saturday, July 18th. The regional wine tour will include: Double Oak Vineyards & Winery, Lucchesi Vineyards & Winery, Nevada City Winery, Smith Vineyard, Solune Winegrowers and Katoa Cellars.  Each winery will have music, food pairings and plenty of wines to taste.  Stop by any one of the six participating wineries on Saturday, July 18th between 11am-5pm.*

In addition to wine tastings, Brian Doughtery will be playing live music at Smith Vineyards. Lucchesi Vineyards will be serving tri-tip, pork roast, and corn on the cob, plus live music from Pre Existing Condition and fun games to win wine discounts.  Bob Mora Blues Band performs at Nevada City Winery with Conscious Catering nibbles. Double Oak Vineyards is offering a special wine sale on their award winning 2013 Chardonnay & 2008 Zinfandel, food from Three Forks Bakery and acoustic finger style guitar played by Jonathan Meredith.  Katoa Cellars is celebrating their grand opening.  “We will be pouring a Sauvignon blanc, Pinot Noir and Zinfandell. We will also preview three upcoming wines, two versions of Chardonnay and another red and food from Back Porch Market.  Our music will be performed by Phil Greene and his singer from Whiskey and Honey,” said owner winemaker Riki Pollock.  Stop by Solune Winegrowers picnic area and listen to the Heifer Belles, check out art by local artists Karel Hendee and find the best pairing between their Fleur de Lune and fresh local fruit cobblers from Happy Apple Kitchen.

My favorite kind of wine is the kind shared with friends. Cheesy, I know. Speaking of cheese, I’ll take some Wheyward Girl to go with my wine. Please and thank you.

Mmm. Pinot noir is my favorite.

Though I agree with Cathy’s cheesy response, too – wine shared with friends is the best! 🙂

Love a chilled Gewertztraminer (especially from Nevada City winery) in warm weather (& reds – particularly zinfandel & petite syrah – year round).

Love the wine trail idea, so many good local wineries to celebrate! Picking a favorite for lately it’s the Cab from Lucchesi’s – goes well with most anything and they’re such a sweet group there at the tasting room!

I haven’t been able to try any local wines up here yet. I came from Paso Robles wine country. My favs are reds like Petite Syrah. Or even a Syrah. But depending on the winery and the grapes I love tasting what each winery does well! It would be so great to go to an event like this.
