Smith Vineyards

Smith Vineyard opens their rustic barn to wine lovers for the three Saturdays (10/10, 10/17 and 10/24) in October (noon-4pm).  If you’ve never had a chance to visit their vineyard, this is a great opportunity to chat with the wine makers, bring a picnic lunch, do a tasting of their new wines and pick a pumpkin in their pumpkin patch.  Many thanks to Gary & Chris for a great family friendly Saturday afternoon activity.   If you can’t make it out the winery, feel free to visit the Smith Vineyard downtown tasting room and enjoy a cheese platter and catch up with a friend.  If you’re looking to explore other Gold Country wineries or downtown tasting rooms, check out the Outside Inn’s wine tasting page for more photos and information.  What’s your favorite local winery or wine event?  Post a comment and share.

Because we all know I love giveaways, I’ve got a collection of unclaimed goodies from my Uncorked Wine Tasting blog giveaway.  Post a comment here and one person will win: a bottle of wine from Bent Metal Winery, Wheyward Girl Creamery bag of Effie’s Oat Cakes, BriarPatch Co-Op shirt with Nevada County local farmers listed, two complimentary wine tastings and a bottle of wine from Smith Vineyard Tasting Room.*  Cheers!

Ooh. Pick me, pick me! :). We won some tickets (from you, Erin!) to the wine/food pairing event in downtown Grass Valley back in the spring – and it was so much fun! Thanks for your giveaways, and for all the info you provide about the community. Love this blog.

It’s a treat to visit Kelly, they have done wine tours in the past (this year they were in July), but the barn visits for October are a lot more mellow.

Beautiful pictures at Smith’s, Erin…excited to check it out soon. Lucchessi’s in GV still has my heart, but so many good wineries to choose from around here. SPOILED.

Great, I still have time to catch one of the tours / tastings! Cool weather means a switch in my palate and red wine is what is at the top of the list! Thanks for letting us know about this and so many other local events.

We went to Smith’s Family Vineyard last weekend to see their lovely barn, & taste their wonderful wines. The property may have been owned by my great-grandparents in the early 1900’s. Still researching that possibility.Their hospitality was fabulous, fun to meet the wine makers. Enjoyed a picnic before the rain came again. Also joined their wine club.
