Wild for the Yuba

Wild for the Yuba at SYRCL’s spring fundraiser is coming to the Grass Valley Vet’s Hall on April 20.   The wine and beer tasting event includes tastings from two dozen wineries and breweries, fine food, live music and mingle with your friends while supporting SYRCL’s work.

Live music by Saul Rayo, Elena Powell, & Jay Ladner and catering by Emily’s Catering & Cakes

Nevada City Chamber of Commerce and Sierra Vintners put together over 45 local wineries and breweries and restaurants through out downtown Nevada City today for the 2nd annual Uncorked.  Great wines, amazing foods, local musicians and more, all within a 3 block area in Nevada City.  Sierra Knolls Winery at The Parsonage B&B.

Alaska Brewing and Smiley Guys BBQ at the ERA Cornerstone Realty.

Pilot Peak Vineyards and Diegos Restaurant at the Deer Creek Inn.

Sierra Nevada Brewing Company at Coldwell Banker and BYOB at Nevada City Classic Cafe.

Haven Underground hosted Lucchesi Vineyards, Jernigan’s Tap House and ol’ Republic Brewery.

Nevada City Chamber of Commerce and the Sierra Vintners “Uncorked” their first join wine tasting event in downtown Nevada City today.  An extensive selection of local wines were poured throughout historic downtown Nevada City and paired with food samplings from local restaurants.  One of my favorite combinations was the Treats peach sorbet with the Indian Springs Muscat Blanc, what more can you ask for on a warm summer afternoon?   Participating merchants, restaurants and wineries include: Szabo Vineyard, Friar Tucks, Chacewater, Las Katarinas, Utopian Stone, Broad Street Inn, The Old 5 Mile House, Matteo’s Public, Jernigan’s Taphouse, Jim E’s Catering, Treats, Indian Springs, Nevada City Winery, JJ Jackson, Nevada City Classic Cafe, Smith Vineyards, Nevada City Marketplace, Coufos Cellars, Avanguardia Wines, Pilot Peak Winery, Lucchesi Vineyards & Winery, Bent Metal Winery, Solune Winegrowers, Double Oak Vineyards & Winery, BYOB, Fox Barrel … Read More »


Sierra Vintners Wine Trail

The annual Sierra Vintners Wine Trail is taking place this weekend throughout Nevada County and if you missed today’s festivities there’s still time tomorrow to visit one of the 15 different venues.  In the name of research my trusty wine tasting companion and I managed to make it to 6 different wineries.  Each venue is unique in its own right, but all of them were pouring generous samples of their locally grown wine together with amazing hors d’oeuvres and music.

Avanguardia Wines has a tasting room in downtown Grass Valley, see here for more details, but if you have the time to drive out to the vineyard in Nevada City it’s worth the short drive.  The property has 3 1/2 acres of grapes, and creates 20 different varieties of hand crafted European blends.  Definitely don’t leave without trying the … Read More »
