“Wild for the Yuba is SYRCL’s way to kick-off the summer river season, and is a great way to support SYRCL’s work to protect and restore our watershed throughout the year,” said Executive Director Caleb Dardick. “We invite you all to join us as we celebrate our local treasure, the Yuba River, and contribute to the work SYRCL is doing to improve conditions on the Yuba through education, advocacy and restoration.”
In addition to the beer and wine tasting, the Wild for the Yuba event will have a silent auction, live auction, live music by Swamp Zen and food vendors. The event is from 5-9pm at the North Star House in Grass Valley.
If you don’t already know about the SYRCL River Ambassador program, click here to learn how you can become a part of the team of volunteers who help educate locals and visitors about keeping the river clean. The South Yuba River is one of the great assets in our community, so let’s all do our part to preserve, protect and enjoy the river. You can meet one of the River Ambassador volunteers at Bridgeport, 49, Purdon and Edwards Crossings each weekend through August.
Now, if you’ve gotten this far– how about a giveaway? I’ve got 2 tickets to next weekend’s Wild for the Yuba event, please post a comment here on why you love the South Yuba River and I’ll draw the winner on Wednesday, June 1st. Special thanks to photographer Kial James for sharing some of his favorite South Yuba River photos, you can see more of his work at the June First Friday Art Walk, stop by The Earth Store in downtown Nevada City and chat with him at the artist reception between 5-9pm and check out his collection of framed prints, matted prints and postcards.
