BYOB is a wine tasting shop with an environmental agenda. Tony Norksborg, winemaker and founder for Nevada County Wine Guild and maker of the well known series Our Daily Red, wanted to do take his organic wines to a different level and offer a place where customers can purchase moderately priced wine in a bottle that can be refilled at a discount. Stop in and visit Paul and Sally for a complimentary tasting of either the house red, select red or select white. You can always find at least one red sulfite free wine. The BYOB slogan is “Save a Bottle, Save a Buck,” so make sure to bring back your reusable bottles for additional savings. Each week BYOB ends up with a small amount of left over wine from the tanks overflow systems and they re-purpose that into vinegar in their attempt to be a zero waste business, while supplies last bring in any sized bottle (750ml or less) and they’ll fill it up with homemade vinegar with any purchase. BYOB is a part of ReCork, a cork recycling program, so save up your wine bottle corks and drop them and soon they’ll be turned into shoes. Located at 821 Zion Street between Fudenjuce and the Magickal Florist, open Thursday, Friday, Saturday noon-5:30. This Saturday stop by to sample some Rainbows End Bakery cookies between 1-4pm. The Outside Inn’s blog InnSide Nevada City has a $10 gift certificate to BYOB to give away, post a comment here on your favorite type of wine and I’ll draw the winner on Saturday, May 2nd.
