Nevada County offers a lot of great local wines and if you’re in the area one of the fun activities is to sample some of the amazing wines. The first stop on our walking tour of Nevada City tasting rooms was Indian Springs Vineyards, located on Broad Street in the heart of Nevada City.
Next up was the newest tasting room in town, Clavey Wines. The winery has been family owned and run since 2001 out in Chicago Park. Josh Orman, one of the owners, had just opened up the 2008 Sangiovese and was happily sharing his knowledge on their boutique winery. Wine tastings are $5 or free if you’re purchasing a bottle to take home with you.
The most establish winery in downtown Nevada City is Nevada City Winery, established in 1980. Stop by their tasting room any day of the week to sample some of their award winning wine. We tried the Rough and Ready Red, the Cepage and the Cabernet Sauvignon. The staff are friendly and knowledgable and highly recommend buying a glass and sitting outside on the patio.
